10 global operators have released satellite communication services

According to data released on the official website of the Global Mobile Suppliers Association (GSA), as of the end of March 2024, operators and satellite suppliers from 43 countries and regions worldwide have publicly announced 77 partnerships. 50 operators from 37 countries and regions plan to provide satellite communication services, with 9 operators from 9 countries and regions currently evaluating, testing, or experimenting with this service.

It is worth mentioning that currently, 10 operators from 10 countries and regions have launched satellite communication services, an increase of 2 compared to the statistical data in August 2023. The organization believes that satellite communication is rapidly rising in the field of cellular communication, however, it is unclear whether the potential of this technology is sufficient to supplement ground networks, telephone, and broadband services. In addition, due to the need to purchase expensive terminal equipment, the cost of using satellite service plans is often high.
