Rakuten

Rakuten is the largest e-commerce platform in Japan, operated by Rakuten Corporation. Lotte Corporation was founded in 1997, initially named MDM, Inc., and launched the online shopping platform Rakuten Ichiba in the same year. In 1999, it was renamed Rakuten, Inc. and listed on the JASDAQ market. In 2000, Lotte launched the Rakuten Points program to strengthen member loyalty. At present, the total number of domestic members of Lotte has exceeded 100 million, and the total circulation of EC in Japan is as high as 5.0 trillion yen.

Rakuten Co., Ltd. was founded by Hiroshi Mikitani on February 7, 1997. It was originally a company operating Internet services. Nowadays, Lotte has developed into a super group spanning multiple fields, including e-commerce, finance, tourism, real estate, sports, and more. Its subsidiaries include Japanese e-commerce platform "Rakuten Market" and portal website "Infoseek". Rakuten also has business in many countries around the world, such as Chinese Mainland, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, the United States and European countries.
